Charter Launches the FullAudio Digital Music Service

Charter Communications, Inc. and FullAudio Corp. today announced the launch of a digital music service that offers Charter customers more than 100,000 tracks of major-label music from BMG, EMI Recorded Music, Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group, and the independent labels Koch and Sanctuary. The new service, The Full Audio Digital Music Service available through Charter, lets users compile custom lists of their favorite music and has the capability to make music recommendations based on customer preferences.

Through its partnership with FullAudio, Charter is able to capitalize on the burgeoning demand for digital music and provide secure, reliable and affordable service to its nearly 6.7 million customers in 40 states. With The FullAudio Digital Music Service available through Charter, consumers have a single, comprehensive destination to access, enjoy and download digital music. The FullAudio Digital Music Service available through Charter will use Windows Media Audio, providing the service with unmatched audio quality and proven digital rights management capabilities.

“By partnering with FullAudio, Charter continues to deliver additional benefits to our high-speed Internet service customers who take full advantage of the power of our broadband network,” said Shahid Butt, Charter vice president of Marketing for New Products and Channels. “The FullAudio Digital Music Service not only offers our customers affordable digital music with a large selection of titles and categories, but it also provides another reason to stay with Charter for high-speed cable modem service.”

“FullAudio is pleased to provide an important component of Charter’s digital music platform,” said Chris Gladwin, CEO of FullAudio. “Growth in digital music will come in great part from partnerships with forward-thinking companies like Charter, who are committed to seamlessly delivering all the benefits of high speed Internet access to their customers. This is an important step forward in transforming the dream –providing customers with instantaneous access to secure digital music — into a reality and a legitimate business.”

FullAudio Digital Music Service from Charter

FullAudio Digital Music Service from Charter allows customers to download up to 50 tracks each month for a $9.95 monthly fee or up to 100 tracks each month for a $17.95 monthly fee. Once the music is downloaded from The FullAudio Digital Music Service, customers have unlimited access to the tracks in their library, and over time, music fans can continue to accumulate tracks and build their music collections as long as their subscriptions are active. FullAudio will allow users to burn their songs to CD early next year. Benefits include:

Windows Media Player 9 Series: a free download of the new, hugely popular Windows Media Player 9 Series beta will be offered along with subscription to the music service

Extensive music library: The FullAudio Digital Music Service offers tracks from FullAudio’s entire music library, tapping four of the five major recording labels (Warner Music Group, Universal, BMG and EMI) as well as major independents such as Sanctuary and Koch

Portability: customers can sync their account to up to three PC’s, allowing them to access their music collections from multiple locations. Additionally, once the music is downloaded to their hard drive, customers can play the music anytime — even when they’re not connected to the Internet

Ability to play all existing music: the combination of The FullAudio Digital Music Service and Windows Media Player 9 Series will allow subscribers to organize and play all existing music located on their hard drive or from CDs

The Windows Media Player 9 utilizes Microsoft Corp.’s digital rights management software and allows users to play stored music when customers are connected or disconnected to the Internet.
